Know there's been some talking about Lestat attacking people in the wake of all the Malcolm shit. I haven't heard anything, so I'm guessing my case wasn't an issue or you weren't told about it or both. Lestat assaulted me the one and only time I've met him. He would have killed me except I apparently taste like shit.

I know it doesn't matter now. I've already gotten the talk about giving him a pass cause he was new and there was a flood and he was just acting on instinct.

Just want to be on your list somewhere if I'm not already.

I was not told about your particular case, no. Thank you for stepping forward; I realize it isn't simple or easy.

But it most certainly does matter, for any number of reasons. He 'deserves' no 'pass' and I don't intend to give him one. Mitigating circumstances do not, in and of themselves, serve as an abdication of responsibility. They are what they are, but he is still the captain of his own soul.

I would offer you what I offer them: the opportunity to talk with him in a supervised setting that he be forced to reckon and face those which he treated as mere sustenance.

I heard Sweeney talked to you. I would have told you about this, if you'd been paired at the time and we hadn't had a shitshow of a month after; it was one more incident on a pile, and not even the worst of them. I was scrambling for awhile.

He hasn't asked me to be there when he talks to Lestat, so I'll trust you to look out for him. I told him that he doesn't owe Lestat a growth opportunity, but that if he wanted to try, for himself or for you, he should.

Thank you for not trivializing this or telling him he should be over it by now. He's heard too damn much of that and I've been trying to tackle the aftermath of it for months.

The heart heals as it heals, and in truth it seems as if he might feel helpless on a grander scale and this yet one more brick added to the pile. I cannot undo the harm done, nor can I make Lestat regret his actions, now or ever.

But I have learned there is something to feeling heard, that there is a power to the right audience and the chance to speak your heart. I could offer him no less.

I will most certainly assure his physical health, of course. And while I cannot offer to make the decision for him, I will keep an eye on him if it seems as if things have turned sour for him. Regardless, I will let you know how it went.

[It's not long after Hilbert throws a punch at his warden that Crozier comes to see the good doctor in the infirmary. The bleeding from his nose has slowed, but there's a nice little bruise growing around his sinuses and slightly around the right eye.]

{ It's a typical night for them. With no parties or social obligations or any sort of nightlife, Lestat's getting used to the quiet domesticity whether he likes it or not. Today it manifests in reading, sitting together on the sofa with Lyontte curled up at their feet as she chews a toy and Lottie nestled between them for absent pets.

However, the talk with Malcolm is still lingering in his head, and with that comes the oddest feeling. That is to say, Lestat doesn't want to simply let it simmer and go away. He feels that perhaps he owes Reid the story of when he turned, given that he knows how Reid's went and how Reid spoke of it despite his own feelings. And he feels, too, that such a thing is safe with Reid more than anyone else.

So he sighs and puts his own book down, then reaches to pluck Reid's book from his hands. }

I want to tell you something.
