[A little bit surprised; Jedao has harbored an old cinder of anger for him over James and Raylan's deaths for some time. But it's hard not to associate Lestat with the blessed acquisition of coffee for a moment.]
We're a little bit...bruised, figuratively speaking. He had it harder than I did. We'll be okay, though.
He is very likable when he doesn't get in his own way [ yeah, he adores his inmate, but he's also fully aware he can be a troublemaker at times ] but I'm sorry to hear about your difficulties, though I have no doubt at your resilience. I am glad you have one another, however.
Let me check with him, though I doubt he will be too reluctant to allow such a thing. [ Wry, but also genuine. Lestat needs softer care than most would ever realize and Reid takes that care seriously. ] I admit to being curious, however. What manner of experiment? Shall I bring any of my equipment?
I want to test how something affects our different physiologies. Even if it doesn't work it should be totally harmless, but I'm still getting all the pieces in place.
Medical journals? I suppose the barge must provide fascinating case studies, even if they might be difficult to submit.
[Jedao imagines journaling must refer to keeping up with scholarly journals; the idea of just writing private thoughts down where anyone could read them doesn't occur to him.
As they chatter, he leads them to the stairwell, and down.
When they get to Zero, Jedao has a key, and he lets them into a cell. Jedao has to take a second to orient himself as his mothsense falls away.]
So. Okay. This works for me. I want to see if it works for you, too -
[He pulls a few small pieces of hard candy from a pocket and unwraps them. He pops one into his own mouth, shockingly bright with sweet cherry, compared to the repulsive metallic tang human food normally always has for him. He pops the sweet into his cheek and holds one out for Reid.]
[ The mention of medical journals makes him blink before he shakes his head a little and ducks it sheepishly. ]
Ahh, an interesting thought, obviously, as you've noted, but I'm afraid ethically unsound. I was made to be very firmly aware of the care and concern I ought to take with the security of each patient's medical history here, as well as how much control they ought to have of their own records, and as such the matter is more difficult than feasible. These are, um, personal, actually. A-and some creative endeavors I haven't attempted for a time.
[ He looks surprised at the treat offered to him, frowning at it softly before yes, he'll take it and try it; it is, at least, more familiar than the experiments that Neal has been testing on them and Jedao strikes him as a smart enough individual that he wouldn't just hand him a regular lolly and expect him to be fine.
He will unwrap it and, after a moment, pop it into his mouth. ]
[It is a perfectly normal hard candy sweet. But they're in Zero, which negates all powers and exotics to a human baseline. He isn't sure if vampiric appetites quite count for that - hence testing with something small first - but it works to eliminate whatever weird part of his alien physiology needs but can't stand human food, and that's not a useful power at all, so - he hopes.
Jedao suspects the most likely outcome is that Reid can eat and enjoy human food down here in Zero, but as soon as he leaves will derive no nutrition or sustenance from it, and still require blood. If he's right, Hakkai is waiting with a pot of boeuf bourguignon not one floor away. And if he's wrong, at least Jedao didn't get Reid's hopes up.
Jedao resists the urge to bounce anxiously on the balls of his feet, hope knotting in his stomach.]

Re: post-pilgrim parties breach
Would Lestat be able to spare you for a few hours on Monday night?

Re: post-pilgrim parties breach
I'll come find you around six?
Re: post-pilgrim parties breach
timeskip?
[Jedao turns up at the expected hour and knocks. His hair is a little damp, and he smells a bit like fancy jasmine bath oils, and a bit like onions.]
Re: timeskip?
Ah, how time flies. Let me get things wrapped up and I'll be right with you. My apologies as I lost track of time.
Re: timeskip?
Is it anything you can talk about?
Re: timeskip?
[ But he offers a smile. ]
Simply some journaling. I've been inspired to return to writing more, and I thought it best to begin slow.
jumping ahead a little
