The heart heals as it heals, and in truth it seems as if he might feel helpless on a grander scale and this yet one more brick added to the pile. I cannot undo the harm done, nor can I make Lestat regret his actions, now or ever.
But I have learned there is something to feeling heard, that there is a power to the right audience and the chance to speak your heart. I could offer him no less.
I will most certainly assure his physical health, of course. And while I cannot offer to make the decision for him, I will keep an eye on him if it seems as if things have turned sour for him. Regardless, I will let you know how it went.
Yes. Lestat wasn't even the only one to attack him that week,
let alone anything that came before or after.
He isn't human, but because of what he is he's had to feel his power change
and dwindle for thousands of years based on the fickle nature of human
belief. Other events exacerbate that feeling, including a lot of things
that happen here on the Barge.
He's planning to come see me once it's through, so I'm sure I'll hear a
little. [How much probably depends on how it goes. Wry humor finally
slips into her voice as she adds:] Apparently my baking is
preferable to me silently hovering in the background.
